The Alberta oil sands has a huge connection to the world being the third largest crude oil procedures. Every dollar invested in the Alberta oil sands creates about $8 worth of economic activities, with one-third of that economic value going outside Alberta in Canada, the U.S and the World. For being the third largest crude oil producer in the world Canada produces more then 10% of all oil produced and bought, (the worlds largest producer is Venezuela at 18.9% of worlds crude oil). Between them, the Canadian and Venezuelan deposits contain an estimated 3.6 trillion barrels of oil. |
The oil sands are also connected to the world by pollution. With the oil sands emitting 44% of Alberta's pollution, and 5% of Canada's 1.48% of world pollution.it might look small but if you think about it is quite a lot of pollution.
